An endorsement is a series of classes that are attached to a teaching license at the end of a specified curriculum. These courses are master's level classes and, if desired, can be used to earn a master's degree. By earning an endorsement, a teacher becomes a specialist in a particular content area or subject.
At the end of approximately two years, I will be considered a Reading and Math Specialist. Once I am finished with my level 1 Reading Endorsement, I plan to earn a Level II Reading Endorsement by completing two more classes and a practicum experience! Then, I'd like to earn an ESL Endorsement (6 classes), an Art Endorsement (no specific # of classes), and perhaps the Early Childhood K-3 Endorsement (I have a 1-8 teaching license) (5 classes). Maybe I'll eventually finish the Gifted and Talented Endorsement as well since I've already taken the first two classes (5 more needed).
